Saturday Seven's 24 June 23
Hello you!
Here you will find my findings from this past week, things I’m thinking about, and discovering. If you enjoy it, feel free to forward this along to friends (they might enjoy it too!).
What I’ve listened to:
Video’s I saved:
Quotes I’ve liked:
“Il n’y a pas de bonne cuisine si au départ elle n’est pas faite pour l’amitié pour celui ou celle à qui elle est détinée.” - Paul Bocuse
“The prize goes to he who slows down the least.” - Rich Roll
“Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” - John Wooden
This week’s curiosities, interests, and thoughts:
Thoughts I’ve kept:
To stop your addiction to your phone, remove what you need from it.
Remove numbers, and externalise friends
Pause or delete anything that imitates social,
localize your life and build a community around you not some distant place you can’t access or need to pay to access,
join physical activities, or groups with other people who don’t use cellphones during your time with them,
use a burner phone,
decide that your life is worth more than trailing along running after the latest and greatest,
find what you have faith in,
seek second and third order consequence activies,
Read anything, but read, preferably something that will contribute to the life you want.
Fear - Faith
Pain - Pleasure.
You can’t buy a great body, healthy organs, a great mind, a great character or patience. You can’t buy the becoming of greatness. Like an expensive coat on an unhealthy slob, people will marvel at your possession, even be jealous, but jealous of what? You didn’t make what you’re wearing, and what you’re wearing is wearing you.
You are dependant upon an external value and derive confidence based upon an extrinsic value, you’re dependant like a lamp upon a battery.
Confident people derive their energy from within, they wear the clothes and make those clothes interesting with their charisma, they add the value to those clothes rather than wear the clothes in the hope of being percieved to be of value. One depends on extrinsic value, the other is the value which they add to the value. One stacks value, the other consumes it.
We’re more prone to purchase luxury goods when we feel low or badly about ourselves.
Perception of low status = pain.
Perception of high status = pleasure.
Purchase of high status = quick fix.
To be fully in control of your life focus on
A) The content you imbibe, B) Your direction of thought, C) Quality x Density of ideation.
input → process → output
Compound ideation
Focus on imbibing quality information, producing quality ideation, rinse, repeat → Focus on Quality over time.
Breathing is everything. Your breathing defines your heart rate, and your heart rate defines your energy.
Don’t think when running, it consumes more heart rate, it consumes energy. Just let go and focus on breathing fully. Relax the body, and run.
It doesn’t matter what you do, but you must be great at it. And the only way to become great at something is to repeat it over and over until you perfect your execution of it. And to repeat something well, one has to love doing it, love the outcome of it, or have extreme discipline. We repeat what we enjoy, we don’t tend to do what we dislike.
Your thoughts, especially influenced by external sources, aren’t necessarily true. Remain in your bubble, feed off your vision, and add wood to that fire, it will keep you on the straight and narrow.
Procrastination and coping mechanisms come from lack of progress, perceived or real.
A pattern for greatness:
Affirm mentally “I am going to do [Action]”.
Then do [Action].
Pattern to solidify success + confidence:
Affirm action (doesn’t matter how small or trivial) + succeed at said action. Rinse, repeat.
Mental affirmation of action + Successful action = Confidence, success, materialization.
When we say something in our head, an “affirmative” about what you want, and then make those same affirmations everyday → Repeating them → Creates the momentum for what we want.
How do create an AI startup Idea?
AI Use cases:
What does AI do? What are AI tasks? What tools can be created from AI?
Traditional:
What exists? What can I digitalize? What can I transform? What pains exist (for me or others) ?
Don’t just render service to get money. Render service, because service ensues from you, from what you already do. Natural service must ensue from who you are.
Time, effort, life quality, expectancy → Considered more valuable than the amount of money exchanged to acquire it → Great deal → High demand → Reduce quantity of offer → Augment price of offer → Increase rarity (illusion) → Increase desire → How to create a viral effect
UHW = Time save + Effort save + Increasing quality of life + surpassing expectancy → Transition of value X Money = considered [Great Deal]
High Value = Saving time + Delivering great results
Saving people time is the most lucrative business on the planet. It’s all about the time we spend here. Better comfort while we live? More time with a relative? Better quality of results? Better enjoyment? All comes down to the time we spend.
The skill problem:
People who lack skills will easily be influenced into any vacuum of “Easy Narrative”, get rich quick schemes, etc. Because the individual without skills is in a fearful position, a position of scarcity.
Questions I’ve asked:
What is my purpose? What is my sense of identity? How can I define these things? Identity defines quality of action towards purpose.
What is my internal narrative and how is it dictating my life (for good or bad)?
You can also give me your feedback on Twitter @check_goldberg. What did you like most about this week’s findings? What would you like more or less of in this newsletter? Any other suggestions? Please let me know. Just send a tweet to @check_goldberg and put #saturdaysevens at the end so I can find it.
