Saturday Seven's
A compilation of my findings, interests, and actions from the past week that might be of interest to you. It allows me to forge an interesting routine and be accountable to you!
Hello you!
Here you will find my findings from this past week, things I’m thinking about, and discovering. If you enjoy it, please feel free to forward this along to friends (they might enjoy it too!).
What I’m currently reading:
“The 10X Rule” - Grant Cardone
Current list of books I want to read:
“Never Eat Alone” - Keith Ferrazzi
“Code” - Charles Petzold
“The hard thing about hard things” - Ben Horowitz
“Conscious capitalism” - John Mackey
“The Bitcoin Standard” - S Ammous
What I’ve listened to (and liked):
Music:
“34-46” - Mark Slater
“Kunzite” - Hosini
“2005 NYE” - Model Man
“Another time” - Two lanes, Kwesi
Netflix:
Joe Rogan - Strange times
Joe Rogan - Triggered
What I’m excited about:
Podcasting. Lately, I’m ‘forcing’ myself to be out of my comfort zone in a disciplined way. Life is showing up in different and interesting ways and so my fear of speaking on a podcast seems to have passed me by. This is why suddenly I’m pulled towards speaking. Interviewing someone, preparing the questions, and also talking and being on an interview myself.
Serendipitous experiences after ‘paying back’ a karmic-type debt. Suddenly life offers you everything if you’re willing to trust.
Getting my knee back: This week my chiropractor has essentially confirmed that he can get my legs to be fully functional again. That overuse is why I have runners knee. This is exciting, because even though mental changes do a lot, if there is some way I can shift from having to run 4k-6k max to prevent inflammation, I can actually get back to my ultra-marathon goal!
Quotes I’ve liked:
“To whom much is given, much is expected”
“You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself any direction you choose”. - Dr. Seuss
“For things to be maintained, they require attention and action.”
“Success is like a breath of air; although your last breath of air is important, it’s not nearly as important as the next one.”
“As long as you are alive, you will either live to accomplish your own goals and dreams or be used as a resource to accomplish someone else’s.”
“Brave men live forever, but the cautious don’t live at all.” - Richard Branson
“Don’t wait for the stars to align, reach up and arrange them the way you want.” - Pharrell Williams
This week’s curiosities, interests, and thoughts:
Thoughts:
(Context: There is this homeless man who stands at the roundabout and walks between cars every evening at 17.30 when traffic is packed and cars can’t go forward. While this is ingenious because he is choosing to use a specific event to beg and survive via other people’s empathy.) I often - when I see him - think that The amount of energy you spend begging or working towards a goal is the same energy. The only difference is the awareness of the application of this energy and how it affects our lives. He essentially aims to survive the next day, while that same energy could be applied (in my perspective and I don’t know all the intricacies of this man’s life) so much more efficiently towards outcomes he actually wants. “I worked for a menial's hire, Only to learn, dismayed, That any wage I had asked of Life, Life would have willingly paid." - Jessie B. Rittenhouse And “any goal you set if going to be difficult to achieve.” - Grant Cardone. Most of us work really hard for outcomes that we don’t actually want. What difficult are we willing to choose?
Relationships: Having a sibling who gets away with things whenever she is at home goes out into the world and believes that she can get away with anything. Then men she frequents then empower this type of behaviour, because “men”. And essentially this propagates this type of behaviour like wildfire. Those men who empower my sibling’s false beliefs, then move on and empower other women who have similar beliefs. Which then comes full circle when I meet women. Putting one’s foot down at home in our most intimate circle with siblings and parents, and striving for good moral conduct and beliefs creates a circle of life worth living. Imposing worthwhile beliefs on those at home in your first circle then ripples outwards to every other relationship you have.
Family is the best place to fix yourself, find yourself again, figure out yourself and your strengths.
Serendipity. When we take a leap of faith and put ourselves ‘out there’ life tends to hand us opportunities and help our forward momentum. When we’re focused on the positive side of life and go forward with hope, life gives us the nudges we need. If our eyes are open, we get to read between the lines. I believe that serendipity comes from a projection or matérialisation or attraction of circumstances, because of what is in the mind/heart. So, if our head is full of nonsense, and our heart is full of old outdated patterns we will attract those things on a subtle energetic level. Going through the good old fires of ‘Hell’ to purify our vessel is essentially re-experiencing/re-visiting the outdated patterns that lie deep down so that we can make space to experience new ones that are more appropriate to who we are.
Listening to how we feel isn’t always good for us. In fact, it keeps us tied to first-order consequences rather than second and third. Though listening to one’s body is a good indicator of how we best function. Understanding how we ‘best’ function doesn’t necessarily mean discomfort either. For example. I study in a coworking space. This forces me to focus on and only on what I study as I have no creature comforts except for tea and work. Though I ‘feel’ better at home, so my creative capacity for writing, finding inspiration, painting, or most anything where I need to be in my emotions are best done in my intimate space. Working in public is great for fast paced shallow iterations, and a huge quantity of simple data. But working at home is great for deep work, complicated work, creative inspired work.
Questions:
What is the thing you’re most proud of accomplishing in your life?
What is worth striving for, spending time thinking about? What is worth your effort?
What has been your biggest struggle, and how did you overcome it?
How would you describe your personal “Rock-bottom”?
In every creator’s journey, there is a mountain, the next best thing, the next dream, the next vision. What would you define as your next mountain?
How do you define serendipity, and what is your relationship with it?
Our “Intangible” is our soul, our mind, our moments of inspiration, the serendipitous encounters we meet along the way… How much of a role does The intangible play in your life?
What I have done(this week):
I decided to purchase a Wacom Intuos (a pen pad to draw and do art on pc) in order to do some digital creation.
NFT’s. Lately, I decided to use the digital platform Dall-E to create models of ART (it skips the part where we have to master 3D software to create the ideas we have in mind). I’ve published some of my works on Opensea.io. Link: https://opensea.io/GoldenLining
Shift. Life sometimes confronts us with decisions. To do or go somewhere we would normally wave off and ignore for example. But seeing what life offers to us in a new light. Rather than losing time, seeing the proposed “circumstance” as an opportunity to meet people, to get out of one’s risk-free routine. Exposing ourselves to a new form of stimulus is also a way of learning to interpret life, thought, perception in a new way. Open-mindedness.
